Describe
the fiber you received in your bag? (Color, length, crimp, clean, dirty, tippy,
etc.)
§
Initial
fleece was in a Superfresh bag at 11 ounces
§
It
was very short, between ˝ to 1-1/2 inches in staple length
·
Describe
how you cleaned the fiber
§
Washed
the same way in Orvus as we did at Karen’s (Walter). Dry in the Superfresh bag
it was 7.5 ounces.
·
Describe
how you prepared the cleaned fiber for spinning
§
I
then trimmed all of the brown tips off. It was then 5.5 ounces in the
Superfresh bag. Next, I drum carded it to even out all of the colour. I spun it
up into four singles, long draw woolen a al Mabel Ross.
·
Describe
the resulting yarn (i.e. single ply, Navajo ply, etc.)
§
Overplied
two of them together “S” so that I had two yarns overplied “S”. Next I plied
these two onto each other “Z” and ended up with a cabled yarn. 4.0 ounces
·
What
did you like best about this fiber?
§
Had
a nice “hand” (feel to the touch)
·
What
did you like least about this fiber?
§
Must
have been the “tail” end as there was lots of dirt and not wool I would normally
keep from the sheep
·
What
intentions do you have for the resulting yarn?
§
Perhaps
use something with a cable; pillow?
